Boyan and I
joined Sofia free city tour. It took around two hours. Our guide was Mikko, a
PHD student in Sofia University. Synagogue, mosque and church are located at
the same area which is called tolerance square. The architectures of the
buildings are alike with domes. The way to distinguish them is looking at the top
of the dome: cross represents church, new moon represents mosque and star
represents synagogue.
Sofia is a
peaceful city, not crowd and relaxing. There is a huge discrepancy between
Istanbul and Sofia. There is not much impressing scene in Sofia but it is a
good place for hiking since it is the only capital city in Europe that surrounded
by mountain.
I really
hope I have the chance to visit a synagogue and an orthodox church but I lost
the chance.
This
was my first time to have bread and cheese as breakfast. Cheese is salty and
milk is sour. This is far from Malaysian style.
It was quite difficult to take public transportation in Bulgaria. There was no English sign and I had no idea which station they are going to stop.
